Rail freight transport in the fight against climate change – this was the focus of the ÖBB Rail Cargo Group's annual press conference this year. After all, the transport sector is one of the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions. In this context, the highest share of emissions in transport is attributable to road traffic. To meet the climate targets, an increased and rapid modal shift from road to climate-friendly rail is therefore necessary. To achieve this modal shift, however, not only fair competitive conditions but also true costs in transport are essential.

So the goal is clear:

This includes excavated material, construction and demolition waste, household waste, ash and slag. By transporting waste we can avoid 480,000 truck trips per year and thus save 80,000 tons of CO₂.

With the European Year of Rail 2021, the EU is pursuing one goal: to promote environmentally friendly means of transport. In order to boost the railways, the "Connecting Europe Express" was initiated.

Our new TransFER Villach–Trieste

We have extended the TransFER Villach–Italy with the new connection Villach–Trieste. For the first time, we offer direct wagonload transports via the new siding to and from the multifunctional terminal Trieste Servola, if required.

Sustainability rating:

"Very good" for RCG

We scored 77 out of 100 points and were thus rated "very good". This is the result of the German agency imug's sustainability rating for ÖBB Rail Cargo Group.

A positive prerequisite for future financing

RCG at the "Made in Steel" in Milan

"Made in Steel" is Southern Europe's most important trade fair for the steel industry and will be held for the ninth time this year. Visit us from October 5^th -7^th at our booth E41 in pavilion 11!
