Around 600 million Europallets are in use worldwide nowadays. Their dimensions are used for orientation in all areas of the logistics world.
The ÖBB Rail Cargo Group has held the trademark rights to the original Europallet since 1961. Its use has since almost cut the time needed to load railroad wagons in half. The Europallet is made from renewable materials and can be reused up to seven times. Its durability and standardised dimensions allow for an international exchange system - thus avoiding transport routes and additionally protecting the environment. To guarantee such quality, Europallets may only be manufactured and repaired by authorised companies.

DAC Question & Answer
Currently, prototypes of the Digital Automatic Coupling from four different manufacturers are undergoing thorough testing. Afterwards, a "demonstrator train" will run through Europe with all couplers that have proven to be operationally reliable in phase I.
